With Peter’s identity exposed, Aunt May becomes a target for Peter’s enemies, and it lands her in hospital

Inspired by the brilliant SDN Editions, which has been kindly hosting several of my most recent fanedits, I have been doing my best to stitch together what I hope is a 90 minute feature-length fourth outing for Tobey Macguire
Rather than bore you with the very rough trailer I put together for it, I chose instead to announce this project using a music video…in this altered reality, everyone’s ‘favourites’ Nickelback once again contribute to a Spidey soundtrack, with the song ‘Lullaby’ telling two stories at once. I’d include more footage, but I don’t want to give the game away too much on what I have coming up.
If so inclined, enjoy
I know, I know, this is a just rerun from 2015, but I feel this is probably the best possible way to end the last decade of Spider-Man comics…a rollercoster ride where we weren’t quite sure what the future held for Peter and MJ…only to see them close the decade out stronger than ever.
While 2010 through to 2015 were not kind to fans of this pairing in the Mephistoverse…one thing was constant, and that was the newspaper strip. Right up until this year, it carried the torch for the Spider-Marraige and gave us plenty of fun Pete and MJ moments to enjoy, it’s a shame it’s currently in rerun limbo, hopefully we get new adventures in 2020
So thanks Stan, thanks Larry, thanks for everything, and let’s hope the greatest love story in comics can continue to flourish both here, in 616, and everywhere else!
Happy new year everyone.
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN:
MOMENTS OF NEED
(Contains spoilers for Amazing Spider-Man#1 by Nick Spencer and Ryan Ottley)
When a weary and troubled Peter Parker dropped by Mary Jane Watson’s apartment, It was one of those moments in time where everything paused, and all that was laid out before them was their eternity together.
Thier eternity as friends, as lovers, as partners.
Reality had meddled in those moments, diminished them, stripped them of the belief those moments could be eternal, and they had been more than content to invite this cruel paradigm in.
But recent days, recent events, had drawn them closer to their eternal connection once more.
As Peter bore his soul to her, as he had done so many times, and was as unsure and as frightened as he’d ever been when sharing his failings and insecurities, Mary Jane had thought it motivated by the recent death of Flash Thompson, sacrificing his life to halt the rampage of the vindictive and calculating Norman Osborn.
She thought it’d even had something to do with how willing she’d been to stand side by side with him and Venom against Osborn.
Perhaps these moments in their endless waltz together had touched him as much as it’d touched her, causing her to reflect on what she had come to reject in the past, perhaps realizing that it was, again, just another instance in eternity of all too fleeting hesitation.
Peter continued, telling her that he was uncertain of whether or not he was making a mistake, apologizing for asking this much of her.
But Mary Jane didn’t care much for the insecure moments, she focused on the one precise moment that counted.
The moment of need.
It was Peter conveying his need for her in his life, to help him survive the unsustainable moments, that convinced her, at this precise time, to embrace Peter with a warm embrace and a gentle reaffirming kiss.
He had told her he was in need of her once before, back when they were trapped in an airport under siege, and some anguished part of her had always told her Peter had salvaged something back then, something she felt was just out of her soul’s reach, but one she felt compelled to grasp through this latest re-connection.
If there was something that had been lost, it would be found again…perhaps even born again.
All it took to draw her back into Peter’s world were those precise moments of need.
“We’re in this together Pete…and we always have been” she said to him, as their endless waltz resumed again.
With a tighter focus on the narrative and the use of footage from Spider-Man: Homecoming, this edit attempts to provide Civil War with more of a mystery behind Zemo’s scheme as well as an alternate introduction to Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man
– Film now opens with Tony talking about the holographic technology
– No romance/flirting between Sharon and Steve
– T’Challa’s introduction as a vengeful Black Panther is not foreshadowed. Scene with Natasha after the Vienna bombing cut.
– Alternative introduction to Peter Parker using Spider-Man: Homecoming footage
– No split between Tony and Pepper (there’s a very good reason for that)
– More mystery to Zemo and his motivations, we only truly learn the extent of his scheming when the characters do
– New mid-credits scene using Homecoming footage.
Within the apartment of Stark Enterprises C.E.O Mary Jane Watson, two souls, once distant through a series of reluctant and regretful choices, were again coming together in a tender and long desired embrace
The kiss was tangible, real, and true.
The two souls, Mary Jane and her best friend, the fallen tech mogul Peter Parker, giggled uncontrollably as the splendor of their kiss allowed sensations and memories familiar to both of them to come to vivid life.
Wild, priceless images of passions shared at the likes of airports, and the top of the empire state building, merged into a seamless tapestry of joy and pleasure.
“You’re one hell of a scientist Parker” MJ said as she hastily unbuttoned Peter’s shirt
“Why do you say that?”
“You just proved time travel is possible, one kiss and we’re right back to the way things always should…”
She stopped mid-sentence as Peter’s shirt gave way, revealing a familiar black emblem on a red and blue costume underneath.
She reeled back.
“What’s wrong?” Peter asked.
Mary Jane played delicately with her hands, she bit her lip and turned her head, placing one hand gently under her chin. She began to ponder, anxious and unsure of what to say.
Peter stared at the Spider emblem on his costume, and instantly understood the problem.
“Oh. My web-thing” he said.
“Your web-thing” Mary Jane replied.
“Look, if this is making you uncomfortable…I should go” Peter said.
Mary Jane’s response surprised him.
“No” she said
“No?” Peter said.
“No…no it doesn’t bother me, it should, but…I don’t think it matters anymore”
“You feeling ok Red?” said Peter.
Mary Jane moved over to his side of the couch again, a little more prepared, she tugged more at the shirt, urging Peter to remove it and to let her see him in his costume.
“Peter, I work with Stark, he works with superheroes..if I had as much of a problem with your kind of work as I thought I did, I would have caved instantly, I’d never be as involved as I am now with it”
“When we were investigating Regent, you said working with Tony was different, that it was easier than dealing with my life” said Peter.
“In a way I was right at the time” Mary Jane explained, “It seemed easier, but the experience with Regent taught me life is never easy for your type Peter, I learned that as soon as I put yourself in your shoes, and not for the first time either, when I helped you and Tony tackle Regent. You taught me there, just as you taught me when all of Manhattan shared your powers, that while nothing is easy, your efforts ensure that everything-anything– is possible. That’s why I thanked you when you went off to free the other heroes…for everything that you taught me in that instant, for everything you continue to teach me through the hardships and great falls you overcome”
“MJ…when I was teaching, back before it all went crazy, when I thought I’d lost you the first time, I learned from my experience a very valuable asset…to teach is to learn twice, the tutor learns from the students just as much as the opposite does…you’ve learned so much from me, but I’ve learned to trust in my fellow man through your humanity and faith in me, it’s what pushes me, why I strive to be better, and what keeps me running up that steep hill. You learn, you teach, and you complete another phase of your journey…our journey” Peter replied, stroking her red hair delicately with his hands.
“Did you learn any secrets of a successful marriage while teaching?” MJ snarked.
“Don’t go there” Peter replied.
“Too late, something in the back of my mind always does” MJ explained.
“Really?” Peter asked.
“It’s tucked neatly between my common sense and a deja vu sensation we got when battling Regent, that sense we’d done it all before…only back then we were…whole”
“Like now?” said Peter, kissing her gently on the forehead, MJ curled up and snuggled up next to him.
“I’m not sure what this’ll become” she said.
Peter’s eyes stared at the clock.
“It’s getting close to midnight” Peter said.
“You want to stay?” MJ asked.
“Sure, why not? Before you know it, it’ll be a brand new day” a confidant Peter replied.
